Warehouse Workforce Planning Webinar with Anaplan on October 15 at 11:00 a.m.
Workforce costs account for up to 70% of a warehouse’s operating expenses. It is the primary operational performance lever — and the hardest one to control. Staffing plans still rely too often on multiple Excel files, manual consolidations, and fragmented back-and-forth with staffing agencies.
The result: understaffing periods that erode service levels, or overstaffing that immediately cuts into margins.
This webinar, co-hosted by OneHive and Anaplan, presents a structured approach to anticipating your workforce needs and managing your logistics capacity, from tactical planning to operational adjustments.
Through a concrete client case, we show how Anaplan replaced five disconnected manual processes with a single Warehouse Workforce Planning application.
Two demo tracks are on the agenda:
Logistics operators face four compounding challenges. Activity volumes fluctuate sharply with seasonality and promotional peaks. Resources operate under constraints: forklift certifications, statutory rest periods, variable-length contracts, high turnover. Forecasting, scheduling and actual headcount tracking tools do not communicate with each other. And receiving, picking and shipping activities are managed in silos, with no consolidated view of overall workload.
73% of warehouse operators report difficulty hiring sufficient workforce. In this context, managing headcount week by week in Excel is no longer viable.
Anaplan connects demand forecasting, workload calculation and resource management in a single shared reference across Supply Chain, HR and Finance.

Logistics Workforce Planning consists of anticipating staffing needs based on forecast activity volumes. It covers workforce dimensioning, management of contractual constraints, and arbitrage between internal resources and temp staffing — across weekly to daily planning horizons.
Excel reaches its limits as soon as an organisation manages multiple sites or activities. Files multiply, data falls out of sync, and overload alerts arrive too late. A tool like Anaplan centralises workload forecasting, resource management and actual tracking in a single shared reference.
The calculation converts forecast volumes into working hours, activity by activity (receiving, picking, shipping). Each operation has an average cycle time. The resulting workload is then compared to the headcount actually available, once absences, certifications and contractual constraints have been deducted.
Last-minute temp staffing is a symptom of planning horizons that are too short. Anticipating workload 4 to 8 weeks ahead allows you to activate lower-cost levers first: cross-team assignment, multi-skilling, overtime. Temp staffing remains relevant, but planned and costed in advance.
Peaks such as Black Friday, year-end holidays or back-to-school are foreseeable when planning is based on order history and seasonality patterns. Modelling these fluctuations ahead of time allows temp recruitment to be triggered at the right moment and standard weekly schedules to be calibrated before volumes ramp up.
